Suspension issues are more obvious than most thanks to the very nature of the suspension and what problems they can suffer from, but sometimes the symptoms can be shared across other parts of your truck. Common Suspension Issues
Faulty Torque Rods/Arms
Your suspension’s torque rods may not be as well known as other components like leaf springs, but they’re incredibly important to preventing any driveline damage. They’re designed to prevent the twisting of essential driveline components while your truck is under significant torque. However, these can wear down with age, use, or exposure which can result in everything from cracks to rust to worn bushings. Faulty torque rods can be indicated by the shaking and swaying of your truck or increased noise while you’re on the road.
Loose U-Bolts
Your truck’s u-bolts are what hold the entire suspension together; without them, it would be incredibly difficult to keep things from constantly moving around or even falling off. But like an old fastener or screw, your truck’s u-bolts can wear down over time thanks to their place on your truck; if they’re improperly installed, they can also cause problems. A sure sign of failing u-bolts is if you find loose bolts underneath your truck that may have fallen off or if there’s excessive rust on other parts of your suspension which are held on by u-bolts.
